We recently spotted a video from the Farnborough International Airshow previewing Raytheon’s newest UAV systems — including a model guided by a video game console — as opposed to the more traditional keyboard console. Given our previously published entries on Blue Ocean Strategy and two overlapping topics — gaming and virtual worlds — today via the Four Actions Framework we’ll take a brief look at how Raytheon stands to impact aerial combat using Blue Ocean Strategy-like thinking:
the need for aerial combat expertise.
the accuracy of its aerial missions and the overall experience of the controller as well as the willingness of soldiers to participate.
mission complexity as the new UAV reduces the need for manned fighter jets, and are therefore less complex.
a whole new wartime experience — one that is so appealing to a younger generation — that it actually could help boost the military’s dwindling level of new recruits.
