At the end of last year, I shared with you the Slingshot success story of Meadows Crossing. Today I am thrilled to give you an update from the student housing complex’s owner and managing director, in which he reveals reaching such a level of success that they will be forced to turn away customers:
Meadows Crossing has achieved a 99.33% occupancy this year. Out of 748 beds, 743 have been leased for the 2012-2013 school year! After reading your book, Slingshot, we were inspired to re-invent and re-think the marketing and the management of our business. We rebranded adopting a fresh new logo and have also adopted a new simple catchy tag line "Meadows Crossing apartments: The place to be." We have employed new simple strategies of marketing such as reworking our entire website with an emphasis on search engine optimization. So now, when one searches for apartments in our market we enjoy a number one ranking on Google.
Additionally, we are continuously scanning for ways to create real value for the resident students living in Meadows Crossing, including the addition of amenities. For example, earlier this year we changed all of the faucets and showerheads to a low-flow system so that our residents enjoy lower utility costs while simultaneously reducing their carbon footprint—this after carefully testing various showerheads and selecting the one that actually improved the showering experience while saving on utility costs! Another example of our increasing value was implemented this past month when we upgraded the modems in all of our apartments so that residents now enjoy a 15 MB download speed at no additional cost.
